2G DSM Quaife Manual Rack Group Buy (Quick Ratio Rack)
PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY — all key details and options are outlined below.
Since the original batch back in 2020, FIBA Motorsport has consistently received requests to bring these back. After a long wait, we’re opening the door once more—but this will only move forward if demand is there.
This is a detailed and in-depth post. On our side, this is a complex project, but we’ve laid everything out as clearly, honestly, and transparently as possible!
Group Buy Structure
- The group buy will run for approximately 1 month, or until we reach the required 35 committed buyers (set by Quaife Engineering).
- Once 35 is reached, a final closing date will be announced, so no one misses out.
Payment Terms
- No payments will be taken up front!!!
- All pre-orders will be placed on HOLD until the 35 minimum is reached
- Once confirmed:
- FULL payment will be required before placing the order with Quaife
- This includes the rack, service options, and any selected optional extras
- ONCE the order has been put through to Quaife, THEN and ONLY then can the racks be shipped to me if the rebuild service and machine work is opted for! This allows more time to prepare and strip and process everything at once for plating and all other services.

Shipping to you will be invoiced separately later, per location, once the racks are completed and we have them either as a rack and pinion kit only or after yours has been rebuilt by us. Since both will differ in weight, value and insurance, as well as location.
- This allows accurate and fair distribution of:
- Import duties from the UK
- Shipping costs
- Insurance
Important: PLEASE read carefully!!!
- If final costs are lower via tariff’s etc → you pay less at the end in your shipping/insurance costs
- If tariff costs increase → the difference will be added to the final shipping costs
- This ensures fairness based on real, live rates at the time of shipment! These can ONLY be estimated as of April 2026!
What Is It?
A Quaife-engineered quick ratio manual steering rack conversion for the 2G DSM.
Developed in collaboration between FIBA Motorsport and Quaife Engineering, this system delivers:
- Faster steering response
- Less steering wheel input for more wheel angle
- A significantly more direct and connected driving feel
Think EVO-style steering response, designed to work within the 2G DSM bolt-on housing—keeping it practical and cost-effective.
Key Specs
- Ratio: 2.1 (OEM is 2.55)
- Type: Full manual rack conversion
- Manufactured by: Quaife Engineering (UK)
- Designed for: Modified 2G DSM housings
This is about as close as you’ll get to EVO steering feel in a DSM.
Important – Manual Rack Considerations
- These are FULL manual racks
- With wider tires (235/245+), expect:
- Heavier steering while stationary
- Once moving:
- Steering becomes much more responsive and manageable
EPAS (Electric Power Steering) Option
If power assist is desired, you’ll need an EPAS setup.
Previously offered by Mr. Cole as a bolt-on DSM kit: These will be directly bought through Mr Cole.

Rebuild & Machining Options
Option 1 – DIY / Local Rebuild
- Perform machining and rebuild yourself
- Includes detailed technical drawings
- Ships as:
- Rack & pinion ONLY
- No seals or bearings included
Option 2 – FIBA Motorsport Rebuild Service
A complete in-house/local solution built to our specs:
- Full strip-down
- CNC precision bore machining (pinion shaft)
- Blasting + durable coating (steel components)
- Alloy components left raw (OEM-style finish)
- Hardware acid cleaned + re-zinc plated yellow
- Power steering (lower ports) removed and welded for a cleaner look
- Full reassembly, greasing, and torque spec
- IF using the OEM pinion housing, these will be plug-welded only
Included:
- All NEW seals and bearings (pinion side)
- (Note: OEM upper bearing cannot be replaced due to special sizing if you keep your OEM metal pinion housing)
📌 This service and parts will have a separate listing for those wishing to add a rebuild service from the previous batch (TBC)
- The option for a core is now available and will limit the amount of downtime your car spends off the road or track. The same process will be done to the cores. so you can simple receive the new setup and install it in a few hours ready for the alignment. Less downtime and less worries!
Optional Extras
These are not required, but available for further refinement, aesthetics, and the best possible weight savings.
1. Billet Pinion Housing
- CNC machined + black anodized
- replaces the OEM pinion housing and weight (775 grams or 1 lb 11 oz)
- Lightweight (162 grams Close est or 5.7 oz)
- Removes unused PS ports for a smoother, cleaner look
- Uses a NEW standard off-the-shelf upper pinion bearing
- Replaces seal as standard
2. Passenger Side Billet Rack Support
- CNC machined + black anodized
- Replaces 2 OEM steel components (209 grams or 7.4 oz)
- NOW One-piece lightweight Billet design (70 grams est or 2.4 oz)
- Includes new inner + outer seals
COMBINED PINION and rack support weight saving of nearly 1 kg off the rack alone! or 2.2lbs! That is a huge amount of weight loss on the rack!

We can also supply a 2G V2 bump steer kit, including:
- Inner + outer tie rods, double adjustable shaft. bellows
- Complete replacement components for the best setup possible
This gives you a fully overhauled steering system that will perform like new and last for years.
