As these cars continue to age, more and more OEM rubber components are reaching the end of their service life. Steering rack bushings are no exception. The original Mitsubishi bushes have long since become missing, deteriorated, soft, cracked, or completely unavailable, leaving owners with excessive steering rack movement and no genuine replacement options.
FIBA Motorsport has solved that problem.
Our OEM+ Steering Rack Bushing Kits have been completely re-engineered from the ground up to replace the factory rubber bushings with modern high-performance TPU, providing improved support and increased durability.
Available for both Power Steering and the much rarer Manual Steering racks, each version has been reverse-engineered to ensure an accurate fit while delivering a significant improvement over the original design.
Why Upgrade?
Unlike the original soft rubber bushes, our TPU bushings provide considerably better support to the steering rack housing.
This reduces unwanted rack movement under steering loads, helping to:
Improve steering precision and response.
Reduce steering rack deflection.
Maintain more consistent suspension and steering geometry.
Help preserve alignment settings for longer by minimizing rack movement.
Eliminate worn, cracked, and deteriorated OEM rubber bushes.
The result is a sharper steering feel with a more securely mounted steering rack, while still retaining enough compliance for road use.
Designed Through Engineering
Every FIBA Motorsport bush is designed using reverse-engineered OEM dimensions before being prototyped and test-fitted on genuine steering racks.
The rare Manual Steering Rack presented a unique challenge, with its passenger-side bush sharing virtually no dimensions with the power steering version. After careful measurement, CAD development, and prototyping, both versions have now been successfully reproduced and tested for fitment.
Material Choice
Rather than reproducing the original rubber bushings, we chose a modern TPU material with a hardness of approximately 85A durometer.
This provides an excellent balance between rigidity and compliance, giving noticeably improved steering support without introducing excessive harshness.
Every material selection is carefully evaluated to provide an OEM+ upgrade—not simply a reproduction.
